Kapama Game Reserve

Limpopo Province

Kapama Game Reserve is a family owned property 13 000 hectares in size and is one of the largest privately owned reserves in South Africa. The property was once largely made up of cattle farms but was converted to eco-tourism purposes in 1986. The reserve is home to good numbers of plains game, the big five (although leopard can be elusive) and good birdlife of which there are over 250 species.

The terrain is made up of mixed woodland, savannah grasslands and riverine forest whilst the lazy Klaserie River slowly meanders through the scenic landscape. Kapama's children friendly camps offer the younger generation their own game drives after breakfast which ensures that the kids get to enjoy the bushveld surroundings as much as their parents do. Optional activities include elephant back safaris at Camp Jabulani and informative tours to the Cheetah Breeding Project (breeding and reintroducing Cheetahs into the wild), both of which are found on the property. Outside activities include white water rafting and cultural tours.

A very special treat for couples or honeymooners visiting Kapama is the Romance Platform. This double story wooden platform can be booked for a night under the stars while little luxuries such as a mosquito net, white linen, champagne and stunning sunsets enhance a complete and intimate bushveld experience.

There are several camps on the property that can cater for groups of all sizes ranging from the very small (Buffalo) to the very large (River Lodge). Please click on the links below to view detailed information on these camps:
